IXION is out – an exciting variation of Frostpunk in space

At first glance, IXION is so similar to its model, the Polish Frostpunk strategy, that it makes no sense to hide this fact. However, this is a game by the French Bulwark Studios team of fifteen, who worked on it for four years. And although here you will also build a city, take care of its infrastructure and the morale of the inhabitants, and face terrifying frost (it will also reach the so-called “absolute zero”, or -273 degrees Celsius), you cannot do without. so on earth. Your world will be the steel corridors of the wandering interstellar station Tikkun, sent in 2059 in search of habitable planets outside the solar system.

In strategy games, we usually look for a fun mix of intertwined game mechanics, multiple levels of management of all kinds of resources, building and upgrading… supported by a clear, fast and efficient user interface. You’ll find it all here, as well as a rather unusually high emphasis on the story, presented with the support of an adult art style, animation sequences, full dubbing, and beautiful, atmospheric music. The very first hour of the game will completely hook you, because while you are in orbit, completing the construction of your station before the first flight, a tragic event will begin the destruction of the solar system. But it only gets more interesting from here on out, as individual interdimensional jumps will open up your station to unexpected revelations about threats beyond, as well as on board. Every other threat and twist is like a brilliantly written episode of a gripping, utterly realistic sci-fi series.

We are still working on our review, but today the first verdicts have already been issued in the world, and in addition to the eight or nine, there was even a score of 10/10, which was written by GameGrin magazine “Beautiful design and sound, a fantastic story and beautifully executed game mechanics make IXION a clear top 10 for me.” The game also won the “Best Strategy” award at Gamescom this summer. If you decide to complete this quest in the style of the movie Interstellar, then you can buy the game on Steam for 850 crowns. There’s also a digital artbook and a really impressive digital soundtrack.
