A book of interviews with 37 figures in the gaming industry, About Games and People, is released this Wednesday. This is a selection of the best from Level magazine, with interviews updated with versions you may have read in separate issues in the past.
Initially, Startovaci raised money to create a digital archive of the magazine. However, since the goal has been repeatedly broken (almost 1.7 million crowns were collected, i.e. 1121 percent of the required amount), several additional books will be created. The headline “On Games and People” features interviews with figures such as the “Father of Destiny”. John Romeroauthor of a fable Peter Molyneuxcreator of several parts of the Monkey Island series Ron Gilbert or Chris Avellonewho has worked on a number of iconic RPGs.
Here, for example, Gilbert explains why he was never tempted to make, say, a shooter. Or what is his favorite game genre.
But there will also be Czech developers, such as the founder of Amanita Design. Yakub Dvorsky or co-founder of Warhorse Daniel Vavra. In the book, he talked, for example, about how, during the development of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, his team was nervous about the correct name: just words they’ve never heard. And to this day, I don’t think anyone has ever complained about it.”
More interviews, as well as photos and other feature articles, can be found in the 580-page book, which can be purchased from the Xzone online store. The title comes out December 7th.
