Cyberpunk 2077 saw CD Projekt RED’s best quarter since the company’s inception in the 1990s. The Polish company earned PLN 245.5 million and the company’s profit was PLN 98.7 million. Chief Financial Officer Petr Nelyubovich received praise from shareholders high sales of Cyberpunk 2077bringing revenue to new heights.
After the release of the massive update 1.6 Edgerunners in September this year, the latest RPG from the Polish studio is in great demand among gamers. Constant discounts and the debut of the animated series Cyberpunk Edgerunners on Netflix also helped.
It is becoming more and more obvious that Cyberpunk 2077 patch paid off. The game was released in December 2020 in very poor condition, de facto unplayable, especially on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. CD Projekt RED did not give up, corrected the name and can celebrate over 20 million copies sold.
“While we believed in the success of the series, its premiere exceeded our expectations. In the first week, our anime hit the top 10 on Netflix in 19 countries.” Nelyubovich said at a meeting with investors.

Most of the team is currently working on the first and last story expansions. Phantom Liberty will appear sometime next year on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. However, support for the game itself is declining as CD Projekt begins to focus on other projects. one of them is Cyberpunk sequel. It will be created in a new studio in Boston, USA, where creators will only begin to form over the course of next year.
The new Cyberpunk, tentatively titled Project Orion, will only be in concept stage next year. Pre-production probably won’t even start in 2023.. CD Projekt intends to put together a team first. It will be smaller than the one currently working on Phantom Liberty because some developers will complement the development of Polaris (the new Witcher). Every quarter, more and more people are working on the new Witcher.
Adam Kiczynski, CEO of CD Projekt added that they are waiting busy years and many ambitious projects. They strive to provide the best quality for fans. As you know, there is a new Witcher, a new Cyberpunk, a remake of the first Witcher and a completely new brand.
