Iizuka: We know that many players enjoy the freedom to explore huge worlds, and our goal at Sonic Frontiers was to build on the linear 3D action that started with Sonic Adventure in 1998 and create a game that will be the cornerstone of the future. franchise titles. I am very proud of what we have achieved.

How did you come up with the concept of open areas? Is it more like semi-open world games or just open world?

The platforming concept of open areas offers a vast new environment and gives players the freedom to explore the Starfall Islands of their choice. Players can freely run and interact with various activities such as puzzles, side quests, a new fishing mini-game, and different stages of cyberspace, facing various enemies without a predetermined path. The actions taken by Sonic change each open zone over time, and the world reacts to your progress, research and achievements.

Has Sonic’s appearance changed? Are you trying to make it more realistic? Can you tell us about the new enemies in this game?

Along the way, Sonic encounters new enemies and colossal titans. Players will have to use the new skill tree to unlock abilities and use them strategically to take down different types of enemies. In the end, they will try to save Sonic’s friends and the mysterious inhabitants of the Starfall Islands from a colossal mechanized threat.

What about Robotnik, Metal Sonic, or other familiar enemies? Will we see them?

Instead of talking about them now, I’d rather fans experience the surprises we have in store for them while playing the game. I hope you understand!

Will Sonic be alone? Or will someone help him?

On his adventure to collect the Chaos Emeralds and find his lost friends, Sonic will be aided by Coco as he explores the Starfall Islands. The concept of open areas brings a whole new element to the series that hasn’t been there before, so I think people will really enjoy it. We’ve taken Sonic’s gameplay to the next level, from a new open area platform system and skill tree to a new combat system and more.

Where did you draw inspiration for the fights from? Was it from the old Shadow games or something more recent like Sonic Forces?

In previous Sonic games, fights were a sign of fast-paced action. However, this time we will add more sense of tension and strategy to the fights. The new combat system should be fluid, exciting, and give the player the freedom to take on powerful enemies. Sonic uses the new Cyloop ability, combos and special attacks to take down enemies, Rangers and colossal Titans. Sonic Frontiers aims to take Sonic gaming to a whole new level.
