Former Tripwire CEO Says He Was Destroyed by ‘Cancel Culture’ Attack

John Gibson was Tripwire’s CEO until 2021. Since then, he has become a very vocal figure actively involved in the culture wars, and at least he says he has a reason for such a stance. On Tucker Carlson Tonight a few days ago, he said he was fired from the company he founded in 2005 because of “social terrorism“.

He himself describes the term as follows:[Sociální terorismus] it is an attempt to use fear and intimidation to change people. They either hide or pretend to be someone they are not in order to keep their jobs, to maintain their status. And I just think it’s terrible for the world.” According to Gibson, he was forced to resign after he decided to openly support the abortion ban on Twitter.

He himself claims that he was not the only one in the studio who held this opinion. However, no one else came forward in his support, which he said was due to “social terrorismabout which he goes on to say:You make people afraid, you make it hard for them, you make them worry that people will leave the company if they don’t fire someone who doesn’t agree with their political views. And so she really could not ride the wave of other people’s moods. And then other people who agreed were afraid to speak. They don’t want to be next in line.”

However, in reality, he was ultimately the only one who openly supported it. His Twitter comments drew criticism, prompting Tripwire to apologize on Gibson’s behalf and announce that Vice President Alan Wilson had replaced him. Gibson himself presented that he resigned of his own accord due to internal pressure, which he commented as follows: “This created an unsustainable situation where the “least bad” decision for us was to sell the company and for me to leave Tripwire entirely. He originally gave the world what he left alone and forever. However, on Fox television, he presented his story in a very different way.

According to a commentary for PC Gamer magazine, the reason he changed the presentation of the whole story is to try to put a human face on the whole event, and not hurt Tripwire:I’m not saying this to put pressure on my former company, but to raise awareness in the hope that in the future some people will stop and think before they start harassing people on social media because it could ruin someone’s life.”
