Rockstar Games set rules for role-playing (RP) servers Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Especially with the PC version of GTA Online, fan servers are very popular, they are usually built on FiveM modification and allow players to play in ways that are not supported on the official servers. Players can become ordinary residents of Los Santos and manage a store, be a police officer or watch the world burn with 999 other players.
The operators of these servers can no longer use the gray areas and do whatever they want. Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive say the following is prohibited on RP servers:
- Trademark Misuse and intellectual property of Rockstar and other companies. So you won’t be able to play Superman anymore.
- Sell loot boxes and game currencymonetize corporate sponsors or integrate cryptocurrencies, including NFTs.
- Create new games, stories, missions or maps.
- Harm official multiplayer or online services, including GTA Online and Red Dead Online.

On the one hand, the players are happy with the rules, as there are more and more RP servers that trade in-game currency. A significant amount was also based on NFTs.
But what worries the community is ban on creating new content. New stories and missions are what makes RP servers so popular. Everyone hopes that Rockstar will consider this rule on a case by case basis and not a massive ban.
