According to the statements of senior officials Bandai Namco at the last meeting with shareholders, Tekken 8 won’t hit stores before2023 April.
As Insider Gaming reports, when an investor asked if Bandai Namco would see new and valuable experiences like Elden Ring in the coming fiscal year, the company’s executives replied, “We’re planning a lot of projects. So does Tekken 8. It’s under development with the goal of being driven out.”
Bandai Namco’s fiscal year 2022 will end on March 31, 2023, so the launch of Tekken 8 could take place from April. Considering the statements of the management, it cannot be excluded that it will even have to wait for the 2024 fiscal year for its launch in stores.
It is unfortunately not easy to predict a possible release period for the new fighting game, considering that the previous episodes were released at different times of the year in Europe, Tekken 7 in June, Tekken 6 in October, and Tekken 5 in March.
In the same way, we do not know at the moment at what stage the work on the game is, as we only saw the gameplay of the announcement trailer. In an interview, producer Katsuhiro Harada said that Tekken 8 was designed from the ground up to make the most of Unreal Engine 5, and no assets from the previous episode were reused.
