Alan Wake Remastered was a game for many gamers that they welcomed because of their love for this legendary brand. However, he left most of it unaddressed because, at least according to Remedy Entertainment, he didn’t quite manage to live up to the company’s expectations of him. In a recent report to investors, the studio presented its current situation as follows: “In the third quarter of 2022, revenue grew by 7% to 7.9 million. Development fees were 95% and royalties were 5% of revenue. Alan Wake 2 and Max Payne 1&2 Remake development fees were a key positive, while Codename Condor and Alan Wake Remastered development fees and Control’s game royalties were down from last year. Alan Wake Remastered and Crossfire didn’t bring in royalties.”.
While the failure of Crossfire isn’t all that surprising, Alan Wake is somewhat surprising as it’s a remaster of the popular game. The Nintendo Switch could also boost sales, but don’t count on it too much. One of the reasons for the decline in sales, at least on PC, could be the fact that the game is not available on Steam, which is where most of the PC gaming community resorts to. If the game appears on the Valve client in the future, it could theoretically see even more significant growth.
