Looks like we’ll still look back at the days when FIFA was licensed exclusively by Electronic Arts and say: those maps in Ultimate Team weren’t that bad. The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA for short) has announced the first games to arrive on the occasion of the World Cup in Qatar.
These are four games. They are all Web 3.0 and each uses blockchain and NFT.. They will be playable throughout the tournament and each has “a unique touch of the biggest football tournament in the world”. At least, this is how FIFA presents these projects.
– AI League: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Edition is a 4v4 casual soccer game in which AI characters play the match and “the player influences the game in fun and tactical moments.”
– Matchday Challenge: 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar described as a party game based around football cards where it’s all about beating your friends. In other words, you will predict match results and compare yourself to others.
– 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar in the Upland Metaverse Set in the Upland metaverse, users will collect, buy, and sell World Cup-related digital items, including legendary tournament videos.
– 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar at Phygtl requires fans to connect with the community and work together to create the world’s first digital fan award.
Recall that EA abandoned the FIFA license after almost 30 years, allegedly the organization wanted much more money for exclusivity. Latest game from EA Sports FIFA 23which was released in September of this year. EA’s next football game should be revolutionary and have a name EA Sports FC. The new era is set to begin in July 2023 and EA says it will no longer be bound by FIFA nonsense.
When EA announced this, FIFA president Gianni Infantino stressed that football fans would only trust officially licensed games. But if he wants to do it like this (like the four games above), then I don’t know, I don’t know…
