Developers from the independent Brazilian studio Betagames Group have been developing their own urban action game for several years, strikingly reminiscent of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto series.
The game is called 171 and takes you to a huge city that inspired by brazil. The authors have been developing this South American GTA clone for about ten years. The first footage from the game appeared on the studio’s YouTube channel seven years ago. Currently, the project is still alive and is gradually gaining real dimensions.
A new trailer was recently released, which has already managed to collect almost a million views. You can check out this latest preview above. At the same time, the authors announced that 171 will enter Steam Early Access on November 17th.. This will be a pre-alpha, so don’t even remotely expect a finished and complete product.
In addition to official materials, you can see also longer footage from the actual gameplay below. The authors note that this is an unfinished version of the game that does not reflect the final planned quality. Going forward, 171 should offer a big living city and clashes between criminals and the police.
The game already clearly contains an advanced version of this mechanic. Although at first glance it is obvious that the game is difficult to match the model in the form of GTA in terms of performance, it adopts some of its elements surprisingly believable.
