Developers from the studio Polyphony Digital certainly did not deserve the favor of the players with their latest steps. The reason is basically latest update 1.07 for Gran Turismo 7. This greatly reduced the amount of credits players would receive for completing each race.
The changes mainly affected the races, for which players previously could get credits the fastest. Getting the same amount of game currency will now take you longer than you thought before the update. This change, of course, added to the current microtransactions, which made the article a little more attractive.
In addition, immediately after the release of update 1.07, developers were forced to shut down servers for more than 30 hours. Since Gran Turismo 7 requires a constant internet connection, this meant that the game could not be played during this period. If you add to these problems before criticized microtransactions equipped with an ambitious price tag, so there are already enough serious missteps, to which the community, of course, reacted.
In addition to criticism on social media, the situation is also characterized by an influx of negative reviews on Metacritic, where the user rating of the game fluctuates. about 1.7 out of 10. An otherwise excellent racing game (our review) tarnished its reputation considerably upon release.
Now, under the onslaught of criticism, the authors promise damages. At the end of last week, studio head Kazunori Yamauchi was quick to apologize for the mentioned technical issues that kept the game unavailable for many hours.
Due to an issue found in Update 1.07, we will be extending the server maintenance period. We will let everyone know as soon as possible when this is likely to be completed. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and ask for your patience while we work to resolve the issue. # GT7

“I would like to explain what happened during this update. Just prior to the release of Update 1.07, we encountered an issue where the game would not launch properly in some cases on the final versions of PS4™ and PS5™.
This was an exceptional issue that was not reported during development hardware testing or prior to QA testing release, but in order to prioritize the security of stored user data, we have decided to discontinue the 1.07 release and prepare the 1.08 update to address this issue.
That’s the reason for the delay. I sincerely apologize to everyone for the late announcement. Some race rewards have also been changed in this update. I also want to explain the reasons and our plans for the future. In GT7, we would like users to enjoy a lot of cars and races even without microtransactions. At the same time, the price of cars is an important element that expresses their value and rarity, so I think it’s important that it is related to real world prices.
I want to make GT7 a game where you can enjoy different cars in different ways, and if possible I would like to avoid the situation where the player has to mechanically repeat certain races over and over again. We will notify you in a timely manner of plans to update additional content, races and features that will constructively address this situation.
Sorry, I can’t go into details at the moment, but we plan to continue editing GT7 so that as many players as possible can enjoy the game. We would appreciate it if players could take a longer-term perspective on the development of Gran Turisma 7.”
Developers apologize and promise compensation
In a recently released report, Jamaica is already promising concrete fixing critical prizes in races. This should happen in early April when one of the big updates comes out. In addition to increasing credits for selected races, brand new races with higher rewards should expand the game.
It will also be added in later updates. opportunity to sell your own cars, which can be another effective way to get more in-game currency and improve the overall economy of the game. In addition, players received 1 million credits as an apology for the inconvenience.
“Dear Gran Turismo Community,
Thank you for your continued support and feedback on Gran Turismo 7, your voices have not gone unheard. I’d like to apologize for the frustration and confusion caused by our last week’s updates, which resulted not only in server shutdowns, but in-game economy adjustments that weren’t explained clearly enough.
We know this is not what you expect from Gran Turismo, so we will be giving affected players a gesture of goodwill in the form of a credit voucher worth 1,000,000 crowns. You will soon see them in your accounts. To use the coupon, be sure to register before April 25th.
The previous update was intended to fix the inconsistent payout in some races around the world. However, in order to restore the intended balance and provide more accurate rewards depending on the time spent and the status of completion, it was necessary to recalculate the reward system as a whole.
To improve the player experience, we will be releasing a major update in early April. We will increase the number of races and restore the reward system to be more balanced throughout the game so that all players can benefit from it.
Changes that will come into effect at the beginning of April:
・ Increasing the bonuses for the second half of the races on world circuits by an average of about 100%;
・ Adding major Circuit Experience racing rewards in addition to the gold or bronze medal itself;
・ Higher rewards for online racing;
・ Adding eight new hourly endurance races to missions. You will also have higher rewards;
・ Increased the upper limit of unpaid credits in the player’s wallet from 20,000,000 to 100,000,000;
・ An increase in the number of used and legendary vehicles currently on offer.
In addition, several more updates will be released before the end of April, which will add new cars and track layouts, as well as make some additional fixes.
Finally, we’d like to take this opportunity to introduce some of the upcoming updates we’re working on. We cannot yet give an exact date or details, but we will inform you in advance on the website www.gran-turismo.com.
・ Increasing rewards for limited-time races as we develop as a live service;
・ Adding new races to world tracks;
・ Adding additional endurance races to missions, including 24-hour races;
・ Add online time trials with rewards based on the player’s ranking in the online leaderboard;
・ Ability to sell cars.
We would like to thank you for your patience and valuable feedback as we develop GT7 to make the game as fun and rewarding as possible for as many players as possible. We always want to keep in touch with our community so we can create the best racing experience together.”
Let’s see if the planned changes and news will really give the effect that the developers promise. However, at least from the latest reactions from the community, it’s clear that players have taken the apology and the quick fix efforts very positively.
