Bandai Namco is heading out to rough seas again, though we’ll probably move away from the Grand Line. Together with developer ILCA, they have announced a new RPG from the One Piece manga and anime world called One Piece Odyssey, due out later this year for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4 and via Steam for PC.
According to the creators, One Piece Odyssey is a role-playing project with unique adventure elements that its fans clearly wanted. It has been worked on for many years, but only now the time has come, and the game is ready to be revealed.
One Piece Odyssey will feature redesigned main characters and brand new monsters, all designed by One Piece author Eiichiro Oda. The music of Motoya Sakuraba, a composer known for his songs from other video games such as the Dark Souls and Tales of series, will guide you through the game.
But the game’s story doesn’t stick to its originals, like almost all One Piece games except the Must/Warriors series. During the journey, a violent storm hits Slamaki, and the team finds themselves separated on a mysterious island. Individual participants embark on a new adventure journey in an environment filled with nature, strong enemies, and also meet strange locals.
Apart from Luffy, you will also play as the remaining crew members i.e. Zora, Nami, Usoppa, Sanji, Chopper, Robin, Franky and Brook.
In no way will I lie to you, but I was very pleased with this news, because the One Piece manga and anime universe is still one of my favorites.

One Piece Odyssey producer Katsuaki Tsuzuki began the interview with his introduction, stating that “not only fans in Japan, but also overseas fans are watching the game, so he decided to talk a little more about the title.”
“Genre is the name of the JRPG. Which took some time in One Piece. I hope we create a narrative drama adventure of the Straw Men that fans of One Piece and fans of JRPGs will enjoy.”
According to Tsuzuki, this project started when he thought of one of the most exciting elements of One Piece. “It’s an ‘adventure’ so I thought ‘a JRPG project that offers an adventurous experience in the world of One Piece like never before’ would be very interesting. So, from the question “What does the One Piece adventure have to offer?” and with the concept of “narrative adventure in the world of One Piece” in mind, we started working with a development team that had the know-how to create a full-blown RPG. The fruit of this long-term collaboration is One Piece Odyssey.”
The concept of “an epic adventure experienced in the world of One Piece” had to be expanded with some new places suitable for the players, and at the same time, Tsuzuki wanted to be as faithful to the original part as possible. So they asked Mr. Odo for advice and designed the characters and monsters to bring the One Piece game world to life.
Tsuzuki talked about the reasons behind the appeal of the game: “The characteristic of this game is that it is a JRPG. We intended to create a One Piece gaming experience that refers to “the epic adventures experienced in the world of One Piece.” We have integrated Mr. Oda’s artistic visions and various settings created by the One Piece world’s art team to suit existing manga and anime environments.”
“Thanks to this, we are confident that we have prepared a realistic and exciting environment for the adventure. And the most attractive moment in this game is the opportunity to go on adventures through this environment with the help of the Straw Men. In addition to the adventurous parts, unique One Piece RPGs are scattered throughout the game, such as the story weaved by the Strawmen, dungeons, and various quests.
