You’ve just clicked on text about a game that we not only don’t know much about, but haven’t even officially announced yet. However, it looks like Kojima Productions, led by acclaimed producer, designer, and director Hideo Kojima, is actually working on such a title. We don’t know if Kojima has been attracted to Overdose in recent weeks, as the horror is supposed to be called. But whether we see it announced at The Game Awards or later, expectations are and will be significant. The Japanese developers will not only continue to work on the award-winning Death Stranding, but also patch up the wound in the hearts of many players caused by the cancellation of Silent Hills.
It was Kojima who set the shape of gaming horror in recent years with his playable teaser, also known as PT for Silent Hills. He was the one who said he wanted to make the scariest game ever. Now let’s take a look at five things (the first thing that came to mind) that theoretically should or could be included in Overdose.
You can’t expect Hideo Kojima to release something with a simple, God forbid, superficial story. But I’m not just interested in events making sense or being properly intertwined. I wish there were real serious human stories in the title. Maybe something like the last Amnesia, which touched on the issue of motherhood.
The good news is that such dramatic stories, which, on the other hand, do not seem cheap, were demonstrated by Kojima, for example, in the two-year Death Stranding. I was most impressed by the queue around Fragile (Lea Seydoux), but the others were not far behind either. The personal story of Sam (Norman Reedus), Cliff (Mads Michelsen) or Mom played by Margaret Qualley. We are gradually gaining…

We really don’t need to worry about this moment. A game from Kojima and without a screen face? It probably wouldn’t even go on sale. In connection with “Overdose” they started talking about Margaret Qualley. And I’d really really like to see her in the next game, although she wasn’t necessarily my favorite in Death Stranding.
Another actress, who, unlike the first named, is confirmed by Kojima himself, is Elle Fanning. We don’t know if he’s working with a producer on the horror project we’re talking about, but I almost believe it. We may know Elle Fanning from the show. Big. I like her and I look forward to playing her in video games. We are currently awaiting the unveiling of the next silhouette.

At the beginning of the text there was already a conversation about PT No, that environmental transformations are something new, because Silent Hill was not afraid of them before, and Kojimo’s demo, together with the 1st person camera, significantly popularized them in the genre.
If we had to find a studio that captured this element and really loves to transform the environment, it would be the Polish Bloober team. How ironic that Polish psychological horror specialists are currently working for Konami on one of the new Silent Hills games.
While this is an element that is perhaps sometimes overused, when properly understood, world transformations are almost always confusing and even terrifying. They can also be functional. Kojima certainly wouldn’t be the first to do something like this, but he could have done it the best.
Overdose speculation says that the character should be seen from a third person perspective, but will also have a 1st person camera. So why not use it as the basis for a VR mode? Not everyone loves VR, but no one wants Kojima to make a VR exclusive. But if it were inspired by, say, Resident Evil VII, it could make something really nerve-wracking from a creepy experience.

Multiplayer and horror – these two characteristics have a controversial past. It is common knowledge that a person is most afraid of himself (ideally, when the lights are off). We will definitely not see the traditional multiplayer from Kojima. And quite possibly no less traditional. However, the multiplayer in Death Stranding, for example, was able to untie the jaws of many naysayers. Non-invasive, cooperative, efficient multiplayer will suit even those who can’t get help even in Elden Ring.
Now I can’t imagine how the “scariest” game can accommodate multiplayer, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Kojima Productions came up with something groundbreaking and amazing.
And most of all I expect something innovative and amazing from Overdos. Something that we, the players, will not even dream of. Something like a fun postman simulator. (Or Abandoned, haha.)
At the same time, expectations are and will be high. We hope that we will receive the announcement as soon as possible and be able to answer some of the questions listed above.
