Speculation that the Call of Duty series won’t necessarily come out every year has been pretty common lately. The discussion on this topic was started in February by Jason Schreier, who stated in his article for Bloomberg magazine that in 2023 new Call of Duty will not be released.
After Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2 this year, this will be the next big part. it didn’t come out until fall 2024. There are fresh speculations about the upcoming Call of Duty 2024, which should be developed by the Treyarch studio.
According to insider nicknamed Hopewhich specializes in news about Call of Duty, Activision Approved 2024 Call of Duty 2-year life cycle. In previous years, the individual installments of the series were usually supported as various content upon their release, with only one post-release. Subsequently, a new episode traditionally appeared on the stage.

If the information from Jason Schreier since the beginning of this year is confirmed, then this cycle will already break this year’s Modern Warfare II, which should be supported for only two years after its release. Does this mean the series is moving to a two-year cycle? If Call of Duty Modern Warfare II, along with Warzone 2, will generate sufficient income even in the longer term after the release, then this cannot be ruled out.
Insider Hope already mentioned in June of this year that talks are underway between Activision and developers at Treyarch regarding the lifecycle of COD 2024. Treyarch is currently already working with the assumption two year life cyclewhich could push the next installment (probably from Sledgehammer Games) to 2026. But Insider adds in the same breath that Activision’s management will make the final decision at the earliest in 12-18 months.
However, it can change the situation in the future. also affects Microsoft, which will gain control of Activision if the acquisition is approved by antitrust authorities.
