Meta unveils Quest Pro VR headset and buys three gaming studios

Today, Meta held a conference dedicated to VR headsets. By far the most important piece of information is the announcement of a brand new headset from the popular Quest series, namely the Meta Quest Pro.

It is said to be the best headset this company has ever made. We expect 37% more pixels per inch compared to the Meta Quest 2 headset. The Design Pro version is more compact and thinner, powered by the Snapdragon XR2+ chip, which Meta says promises 50% more performance than its predecessor at higher temperatures. It also offers 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage space. Then the big news is controllers that can track your position in 3D space.

The headset is compatible with apps for the Quest 2, but is not a direct successor. The Quest Pro is designed primarily for work, not play. This is also hinted at by the price tag, which is $ 1,499. By the way, the RTX 4090 video card will go on sale at the same price on Wednesday. Meta Quest Pro will hit the market on October 25th.

Anyway, the games were also shown at the event. We found out the release date for Among Us VR is November 10th. The game will appear in Meta Quest 2 and Steam VR.

As early as November 3, Marvel fans can look forward to the release of Iron Man VR, which will appear in Meta Quest 2. It was originally exclusive to Sony’s VR headset.

And the Meta is really serious about games because there was another announcement. The company bought not one, not two, but three game studios. The first is Armature Studio, which you may know from the successful VR port of Survival Horror Resident Evil 4. The second studio is Camoflaj, who are behind the aforementioned Iron Man for VR. The last team is Twisted Pixel, the authors of Path of the Warrior, for example. However, we have not yet found out what the newly acquired studios are working on.
