Sony is shipping significantly more PS5 consoles to stores

Next month is one of the most important months for Sony, the long-awaited action adventure will be released God of War: Ragnarok on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. The company is well prepared for the second Scandinavian adventure of Kratos and his son Atreus, as well as for the excitement around the American Black Friday.

According to market analyst David Gibson, Sony has significantly increased PS5 shipments in the US in recent months, and this was even supposed to be recorded in September. 400% growth year on year.

Gibson believes that some of them have been sold and the rest are left, so there will be a lot of affordable devices in stores in November.

Xbox shipments also rose during this period, albeit to a lesser extent, while Nintendo Switch shipments dropped. Gibson saw Switch sales drop 59% year-over-year, while for Xbox, it’s an 89% increase over last year.

Gibson obtained the data by examining import documents by sea.. They show that Sony shipped 1.5 million kilograms of goods to the US in September 2021, compared to about 7.5 million kilograms in September this year. That doesn’t necessarily mean many PS5 consoles have arrived in the US, as Sony ships headsets, controllers, games and more. However, accompanied by reports of many more items being sold in stores, it converges.

For Xbox, the analyst says more data needs to be explored, while for Nintendo he warns that the company uses air transport morebut his analysis includes only maritime transport.

Gibson’s analysis goes hand in hand with retail sources from Christopher Dring, head of GamesIndustry.biz. He found out that PS5 availability worldwide in September was surprisingly good. “One source told me that she was the best last year. I’m looking forward to these dates” he added.
