The epic adventure in Bohemia of the last Luxembourgers attracts players from all over the world even years after its release. Will be celebrated next February Kingdom Come: Deliverance five years, and the medieval RPG reached sold five million units across all platforms and continues to generate revenue that keeps Warhorse Studios in the black.
In the fiscal year ending this March, Warhorse’s sales reached 173 million crowns. Profit before tax amounted to 124 million, Lupa.cz server noted. Sales are down, of course. In the year of publication, there were almost 1.1 billion, a year later – 463 million, and in 2020 – 250 million. However, it is clear that about Kingdom Come: Deliverance among the players still interested, Warhorse supports it with game discounts and add-on packs. The company also received money from the Epic Games Store and PlayStation Plus (Sony), where the game was distributed. Among other things, it was also included in the Xbox Game Pass subscription from Microsoft.
Daniel Vavra as well as Martin Klima proved that a successful RPG can be made realistic, without dragons and magic. At the same time, the publishers once reproached them for the lack of fantasy elements and did not want to financially support a demanding project. Finally, Warhorse had success on Kickstarter, where they managed to raise £1,106,371 from fans, the equivalent of 36 million crowns. It was enough to Zdenek Bakala invested more money in the project. In an interview with Real Talk, Vavra later revealed that the budget was close to 400 million crowns. Forbes previously estimated it at $750 million.
The acquisition itself testifies to the success of the Czech game. Warhorse Studios was bought by publishing company Koch Media in February 2019. (now Plaion), which is part of the Embracer Group. The company paid 41.8 million euros (1.1 billion crowns) for Warhorse. Embracer Group owns Gearbox Software, Deep Silver, 3D Realms, 4A Games, Saber Interactive, a new studio in Brno. Ashbourne Games or Slovak Games Nine Stonesthe authors of the hunting simulator Way of the Hunter.
The Black Swan in the history of Kingdom Come: Deliverance no Czech dubbing. His absence is regularly criticized by Warhorse players. However, the situation may change at the end of this year, the Czech dub, created by the community with the financial support of Daniel Vavra, should be completed. We will even hear his voice in the game. The release is mandatory for the PC version, it can appear on the PS4 and Xbox One consoles only after the approval of the publisher.
