Since its release, Deathloop has been compared to Dishonored’s excellent action game. Why not, because these are games from the same stable, which are really similar in many ways. The high similarity has led to a number of fan theories, but it may not have meant anything at all. Everything was cleared up in an Xbox podcast, where Deathloop creative director Dinga Bakaba stated that the story of this new feature is one of an alternate version of the future of the universe, in which the protector of the Empress Corvo Attano spread death through special abilities and, above all, a properly sharpened sword.
It is suggested that the main reason this is not a pure sequel but a title set in a different time is because the game is able to stand out on its own with its unique story and characters. According to Bakab, the developers wanted to develop a timeline after the death of the Outsider, and it is suggested that the world of Deathloop represents one of the directions the universe could have taken.
