Back in early January, we wrote that the ESA had canceled this year’s physical E3 show and that, like last year, the online version was to replace it. But, as we learned yesterday, this will not happen this time either. E3 2022 was canceled completely and without any official compensation, so the situation was the same as in 2020.
Razer PR manager Will Powers was the first to come forward with the report, but was subsequently confirmed by IGN magazine. He also provided additional information that ESA is making new plans and wants to return in 2023. If this actually happens, that is the question. For now, it’s starting to look more and more that E3 will never have to return in its classic form.
Just got an email… It’s official, the E3 digital show has been officially canceled for 2022. Lots of mixed feelings about this…

Almost immediately after this announcement came the traditional Geoff Keighley, who remembered himself with his Summer Game Fest, which will be held for the third time and will be held in June this year. We are looking forward to the new Kickoff Live broadcast with more announcements and new looks at the games already featured. It will be followed by other presentations from various game publishers, so it will probably be a relatively complete replacement for E3. We’ll find out more in the coming weeks.
Glad to share this @SummerGameFest will return this June with a list of events. We will be producing another Kickoff Live show with announcements, news and first looks.
There’s a lot more to come in the coming weeks, as well as some very cool new elements for Year 22. pic.twitter.com/jjXLG8Xueh
