Blizzard released Update on Overwatch 2 to let you know that it will remove SMS protection for many players, to give them access to the game. The game-specific update will be released on October 7, 2022.

Blizzard also announced that after the patch, which players will no longer need to authenticate via SMS: “Any Overwatch player with a linked Battle.net account, which includes all players who have played since June 9, 2021, will not be required to provide a phone number to play.”

Basically, those who already have a recognized ID and have no issues playing Overwatch will be able to play Overwatch 2 without the new security gateway. For others, the requirement designed to combat the proliferation of cheaters will be maintained.

In addition, Blizzard has confirmed that it is trying to fix the lost content issue in the account migration, apparently as the same thing is not yet 100% complete, and there should be no more sign-in issues. , but queues can still be very long.
