CD Projekt RED is preparing a new brand and continuation of Cyberpunk

We are already used to the fact that the Polish studio CD Projekt RED does not hesitate to reveal a number of details about the plans and the future of the entire creative association at conferences with investors. But this time he got really excited. we waited confirmation of the creation of an entire new trilogy about the Witcher, which will begin with a project with the working title Polaris.

It is Polaris that is the new Witcher, the creation of which was officially announced a few months ago. It will be about story-driven open-world RPG that should build on the blockbuster legacy The Witcher 3 since 2015. The game is currently in pre-production with over 150 CD Projekt RED employees involved in its development. And as for the rest of the new Witcher trilogy, both subsequent games should be released within six years of Polaris’ release..

As previously confirmed, The new Witcher trilogy will run on Unreal Engine 5.

Studio Molasses Flood, bought out last year, also intends to contribute to the Witcher series. This is what CD Projekt RED has to offer us. an as-yet-unnamed innovative take on the world of The Witcher that will once again focus on story. It should be suitable for both veterans and new audiences. This project then wears a working label Sirius and is also currently in pre-production.

And in addition to the witch theme, we have another project Big Dog. Looks like it will be again a single-player story-driven open-world RPG, but independent of the aforementioned trilogy. What else, development is handled by an external studio made up of creators who have worked on The Witcher series in the past.. However, we will have to wait for information on whether this is an as yet unknown creative entity or an already established studio. It appears that CD Projekt RED is deliberately not revealing specific details in this case.

Fans of the world of Cyberpunk will definitely be satisfied CD Projekt RED is already looking forward to a full-fledged sequel Cyberpunk 2077 under working title Orion. All we know about him so far is that he intends to prove the full power and potential of the Cyberpunk universe. Whatever that means.

Let’s also not forget that next year we will see the Phantom Liberty story expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Phantom Liberty is already in the final stages of productionso hopefully it won’t happen that we have to wait until the end of 2023 for the expansion. In the meantime, we’re at it, news related to The Witcher 3’s next-gen free update, which should be released by the end of this year also on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PS5, again, that didn’t happen.

But that’s not all. Although CD Projekt RED has repeatedly stated in the past that it intends to continue to develop the Witcher and Cyberpunk brands, now he is also preparing a third, completely his own brand. We know this thanks to a project with the working title Hadar and Polish developers promise that Hadar will be significantly different from The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077. At the same time, a new brand has been born since last year, it is created entirely in-house and is currently in the conceptual stage and in the hands of a small team. The bottom line is that this is not another licensed release or an attempt made in collaboration with another game studio.

We also don’t have more details on the Hadar project at this time, so we can only speculate for now. Will it be an RPG again like The Witcher, a mix of shooter and RPG like Cyberpunk 2077, or something completely different? Perhaps someone in the studio’s archives dug up plans for the futuristic shooter that CD Projekt flirted with after the first one came out. Witcher since 2007? Who knows.

But there is no doubt that the Polish creators are planning a lot. There’s no denying their success so far, not when they boast over 65 million Witcher games and 20 million Cyberpunk 2077 games sold, so it’s clear they’re not going to slow down. Even after the success of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime, they intend to focus more on the world of TV and film, so they plan to continue working with external partners. Plans to create a multiplayer also have not gone away. So let’s hope it doesn’t result in too big bites.
