Microsoft has launched a special website dedicated to its $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
The company presents individual benefits/benefits on the page and declares de facto that buying the developers of Call of Duty, Diablo, Overwatch, StarCraft, World of Warcraft and others is a win-win option.
It can be assumed that the presentation of these benefits is a defense against the objections of Sony and Google, and we can also perceive the page as a public promise from Microsoft. This, in turn, could improve the work of competition authorities that are studying the impact of the acquisition on their markets.
The giant from Redmon laid out his vision on the page. In that gamers and developers are the backbone of the Xbox business. Microsoft wants people to be able to play games anywhere, anytime, on any device. Mentions Xbox, PlayStation, phones and online.
Source: SonyThe head of PlayStation was in Brussels to personally voice his concerns about Activision’s Xbox deal.
“Developers deserve more opportunities to create, distribute and monetize their groundbreaking games.” says Microsoft, saying it wants to bring more big games to mobile devices (via Xbox Cloud Gaming connected to Xbox Game Pass), which means more competition in the mobile industrydominated by a few large companies.
Another advantage Microsoft sees in more competition in traditional gameswhere Sony and Nintendo will remain the biggest players. Microsoft plans to invest more in studios around the world. Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox division, has already made it clear he wants to talk to Activision Blizzard developers and see what they would like to work on. So there’s an advantage here too, because now Activision is forcing them to work on the Call of Duty that makes the most money. So with Microsoft’s approach, forgotten brands could make a comeback.
