Player Calendar: The most interesting games of October 2022

This is how autumn begins. The days are getting shorter, the leaves are getting a nice color, and we gamers are slowly hearing about the release of the expected games. Is there a continuation of the atmospheric stealth action A Plague? An adventure with Mario and his friends in XCOM-style combat? Really unusual event? A real race in the desert? Two Czech games? Or maybe Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2? We have everything and more!

10/4 on PC, PlayStation and Xbox

We will be able to fully enjoy the fading autumn sun in off-road racing. They are designed for the most epic rally adventures, capturing the thrill of the Dakar. Of course, there are licensed cars from world manufacturers, Tatra cannot be missing in trucks, but you will definitely find yours in the categories of cars, motorcycles, ATVs and SUVs. In total, more than 30 stages have been prepared for you, and a single player game complements the multiplayer. In both cases, you need to follow the change of weather and all four seasons. You will have to face not only the scorching desert sun and darkness, but also sandstorms, debilitating rains, snow or deep mud.

We trade the hot desert and dust for medieval Europe in a dark action adventure with fantasy elements. 1428: “Shadows over Silesia” by Piotr Kubizek takes us to a time when religious storms swept through Europe and more than one preacher predicted the end of the world. The Hussite campaign in Silesia is just beginning, and heretics seem to be the greatest danger to the kingless land. However, the real evil lurks in a completely different place and does not plan to conduct religious disputes. You are waiting for difficult puzzles, difficult battles, stealth passages, and you will have to decide what to do more than once. During your adventure, you will even meet possessed devil worshipers, sexual demons, hellish creatures, as well as creatures known from European mythology.

Asterix and Obelix must leave Gaul, where a small village of Gauls still defies the Romans, and move to Hibernia (now known as Ireland) to stop the Roman invasion and bring back the beloved golden ram. In a challenging mission during which you will travel through 6 worlds, you will control your favorite heroes and use your fists and all the surrounding objects to break through while blowing up the Romans. Also, for the first time, four players can play local co-op on the same screen. Ready for stylish combinations?

Fans of Czech games should hone their skills once again! Prague-based studio GoldKnights presents The Last Oricru, an action RPG that brings the brutal civil war in a medieval sci-fi world to the next generation of PCs and consoles. You can enjoy the game in both single player and cooperative multiplayer, including split screen. The project focuses on history. You find yourself in the middle of a conflict between two races raging on a partially terraformed planet, isolated from the rest of the universe by a protective barrier. Do you have what it takes to influence the fate of an entire nation?

There’s traditionally no shortage of NHL in October, which won’t be coming to PC even with this year’s edition. Instead, on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, thanks to the Frostbite engine, it promises a further shift in gameplay, more animation, prettier graphics, and more participation in the game thanks to cheering spectators in the stands. We’ll also see new interactive Stanley Cup celebrations and new endgame animations for adrenaline-pumping moments like overtime wins, heats and playoffs. At the very end, women’s hockey comes to the fore. In Ultimate Team, you’ll have some of the world’s best players on your roster with a new mix of women’s and men’s teams. However, fights between male and female hockey players are prohibited.

We’re moving on to a really nasty adventure game that has a very weird atmosphere. In Scorn, you will enter a terrifying world full of strange shapes and gloomy scenes. This world is part flesh, part machine, drawing inspiration from the work of Swiss artist H. R. Giger and Polish artist, photographer and sculptor Zdzisław Beksiński – Giger’s biomechanical style of art blends with Beksiński’s dystopian surrealism. The result is something that is difficult to describe. Just take a look.

If you’ve played the 2019 dark horse game A Plague Tale: Innocence, then you know exactly what to expect from the sequel. Just add to that more elaborate gameplay, a longer storyline, and more brutal combat. Here, in brief, is the adventure of Amicia and her brother Hugo in the south of France. You will even see areas where rat plague has not yet broken out. Enjoy them, because soon everything will change, and here too the race for survival will begin, so that the couple will get ahead of the voracious rodents and people who want to kill brothers and sisters. Can you help them?

After Friday the 13th and The Predator Studio, Illfonic is enjoying the Ghostbusters license and, in the style of previous projects, is preparing a four-on-one asymmetrical multiplayer action. Four players will become ghost hunters, and the remaining player will be in charge of dangerous and sometimes funny ghosts. Ghostbusters will play in first person and will have not only the familiar proton cannons, but, of course, traps as well. On the other hand, as a ghost, you will be able to fly and teleport around the maps using cracks, manipulate objects to hide, use slime, and summon ghostly minions.

Mario, Luigi, Peach and their fellow bunnies must come together again, this time to travel the galaxy, save individual worlds and the cute Sparky from an evil and very dangerous creature that wants to conquer the galaxy. So don’t wait, choose your favorite and go on adventures and exciting turn-based battles that are even better than last time.

10/20 on PC and Xbox

This cooperative first-person shooter combines three things: a big map, big dinosaurs, and big guns. Players generally appreciate the prehistoric rodent battles in early access and hope that the developers will continue development. A word of warning: this is a team event, so keep that in mind.

Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing or Red Hood? If you can’t choose, that’s ok. In the upcoming Gotham Knights event, you will freely switch between these four superheroes and enjoy their various abilities as you save the famous metropolis. I wonder where Batman is? According to the authors, he is dead. So, someone else must deal with the notorious villains. Luckily, they have iconic gear, a batcycle, and progressive skill and weapon upgrades.

October 21st on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch

Fans of story adventures are sure to be looking forward to the end of the month, when the new adventure from the borderlands will see the light of day. It beckons with new and old characters and new stories from the world of Borderlands. In the constantly war-torn metropolis of Prometheus, you will control Ana, Octavio and Fran on the worst day of their lives. You have to help these three thugs in their quest to change the world (and maybe even save it). You have to face a planetary invasion, a cruel monster and a cold-blooded capitalist. And remember, what happens on this cinematic ride is up to you.

Two and a half years later, Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord passes a major milestone. Early Access becomes a full game that they will continue to work on at TaleWorlds. So get on your horse and go on an adventure in the sequel to the famous medieval RPG/strategy. The action of the second part takes place 200 years earlier and expands both the combat system and the world of Calradia. You will explore this world, raid it and conquer strongholds and villages to expand your influence. You can then test your tactical and combat skills against players from all over the world in various multiplayer modes.
