Saudi Arabia invests $13 billion in major publishing house

Saudi Arabia State Company smart games in possession State Investment Fund (PIF) announced another package of investments in gaming companies. In total, it is planned to buy almost 38 billion dollars.

Nearly 19 billion more will leave Arab pockets for “key” companies in which Savvy Games wants to acquire minority stakes. The rest of the total is for investments in smaller companies or perhaps esports.

Saudi Arabia has recently been investing heavily in the gaming industry. The shares are owned, for example, Nintendo, hugger, capcom or Activision Blizzard. We recently wrote about criticism of the SNK studio acquisition. Fans question the studio’s creative independence due to human rights issues in Saudi Arabia, as well as the moral standing of the developers. PIF is headed by a prince Muhammad bin Salmanwho, among other things, allegedly ordered the brutal murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018.
