Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas mod removes Bethesda RPG source

A new mod for Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas is designed to change the names of various weapons and equipment to remove all references to the police from the Bethesda and Obsidian RPG series. “more comfortable” for players who may have “very real injuries and discomfort in front of the police.”

Called simply “No Police Gear,” the mod can be used with both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, and was created by modder UnrealSeptim. Speaking exclusively for PCGamesN, they say the goal is to let players experience Fallout the way they want.

“Personally, I have no rancor or hostility towards the police,” says UnrealSeptim. “However, there are many people who have very real trauma or discomfort with the police, and for very good reasons. I created my mods for those people, not because they couldn’t play without them, but because they might feel more comfortable with them, and I think we all deserve to feel comfortable when we play. That’s the beauty of mods. We can use them to change the game however we want until we get the experience we most want.”

No Police Gear removes police-related items from Fallout, such as the police hat, or renames them so they no longer have anything to do with the police, for example the baton in Fallout 3 is now called a “stick”. “. While UnrealSeptim says that it could be “contradictory”, they do believe that people should be able to play however they want.

“Obviously the idea of removing content from a game is controversial because it’s not something that everyone wants,” says UnrealSeptim. “But if someone wants to remove a certain character, flag, or item from their game, they should definitely be allowed to do so. In a way, this allows us to customize our games and make them our own, and I urge anyone who is against this idea to reconsider his position. What anyone else does with their game is their business, not yours.”

UnrealSeptim also created a mod for Fallout: New Vegas that removes the dialogue options, allowing you to trick Frank’s character into committing suicide. They have plans for more mods for Fallout and the Bethesda Elder Scrolls series, saying, “As long as I keep playing, I’ll keep making mods for them for the reasons I’ve stated.” All UnrealSeptim mods are available for free on Nexus Mods.
