Next year we should finally see the big return of the American E3 exhibition, one of the most important gaming events. This was at least until 2019, but during the pandemic, with the small exception of last year (when there was at least a digital replacement), this did not happen at all. Along with the return in 2023, many changes await us. The exhibition has long been organized by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), which, however, will run in the background next year.
Next year, E3 kicks off on June 11 with presentations from game companies. The fair itself will then be divided into four days, which vary considerably. The first two (June 13 and 14) will be exclusively for business people. Only on the third day (June 15) will access not only to business people, but also to the public. The last day (June 16) is for the public only.
The convention center in Los Angeles, where the fair takes place, will also be divided. One half will be dedicated to business only, while it should be quieter and quieter. The Kentia Hall, which has not been used for several years, should also be reopened.
The other half of the building is supposed to be classic E3 as we know it, so we can expect classic public booths. There, among other things, you can expect much more support from indie developers, and the stands will also be outside, outside the exhibition center.
The general format is much more reminiscent of Gamescom, which takes place every year in Cologne. The new “version” of E3 should be more accessible to the public, business people and partners. ReedPop also wants to support everyone who announces something about E3, even if they are not directly involved in E3. So maybe there will be a connection between E3 and Jeff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest.
The list of confirmed exhibitors will be announced in the coming months. “I am optimistic about what I hear,” says Dring for VGC magazine, “But (our) team has to prove that this is a different E3, with a different group behind it that wants to do something really good.”
