Elden Ring Mod adds one of the funniest features of Dark Souls

The Elden Ring mod brings one of the most fun features of Dark Souls to a FromSoftware game, making death that much more enjoyable for characters, whether they’re yours or enemies. Elden Ring is already one of the best RPGs on PC. It’s a deadly game, especially when fighting the many difficult bosses of the Elden Ring. Either way, it doesn’t match the original Dark Souls in any noticeable way, until now.

The Elden Ring mod “Player Ragdoll Physics” from creator Dweet adds full ragdoll physics to your playable character along with all other humanoid characters upon death.

This was likely included by FromSoftware to ease the load on the game’s physics engine given the game’s vast open-world nature, or perhaps the team decided it was too silly. While both of those reasons are fair, there’s no denying how much fun it is to roll your downed enemies around the battlefield with a quick spin on their body. It also makes dying from a particularly difficult encounter for the 20th time much more bearable thanks to the sheer joy of seeing your Terni fall through the sky.

Dweeb points out that the standard dust particle effect still appears after death, even if your character doesn’t despawn; they say they like to “think of it like your soul leaving your body.” Nearly all death animations are affected, except for some grabs, fatal corruption, and falling into a “death box” (found in the deadliest holes in the Elden Ring). Dweeb also warns that the mod affects core game files, therefore noting that using it in normal online mode may result in you being banned from playing online.

You can get the Player Ragdoll Physics mod for yourself over at Nexus Mods; if you’re not addicted to the concept yet, you can see the mod in action below:
