The highly anticipated Resident Evil 4 remake was finally announced in June at the State of Play event. However, at the time, we only received confirmation that the game would be coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and not the latest generation of consoles. It was beginning to look like we would see the first part of RE purely for current consoles, but in the end it wasn’t. At the Tokyo Game Show, we learned that the game was also heading to the PlayStation 4. However, it was somewhat strange that the rival Xbox One was not mentioned. Players began to wonder if this was some form of exclusivity.
After all, it looks like it was a bit of an odd announcement and the title would also refer to XONE. At least that’s what Amazon offers, where you’ll already find the game in a version for both generations of Xbox. Interestingly, according to insider Dusk Golem, RE4 Remake was planned for older consoles from the very beginning, only Capcom decided to announce the versions gradually. However, this is not the first time that the developers have decided to also create a version for PS4 and XONE, although nothing like this was originally announced. As an example, we can mention another survival horror – The Callisto Protocol.
We will learn more about the remake of the fourth Resident Evil at the RE Showcase, which will take place sometime in October. The game itself will be released on March 25, 2023.
For the record, the Amazon boxart is a placeholder, but it’s likely that these pages are prepped ahead of time because pre-orders are likely to skyrocket after the Resident Evil demo in a few weeks.
