Renowned insider Tom Henderson, who previously wrote for various smaller sites, today launched his own Insider Gaming magazine. As the name suggests, it focuses on information from behind-the-scenes sources and, for example, games that have not even been officially announced yet. However, in order to move his project off the ground, Henderson published an article that was not directly related to a specific game, but to Sony.
According to Henderson’s sources, the Japanese company should be working on an improved model of the PlayStation 5 console, the so-called chassis D. But if you expect more powerful hardware, you will be disappointed, it should be almost identical. . However, according to Henderson, the advantage of the new version will be a detachable mechanism that can be connected to the console using a USB-C cable. For this purpose, this model will have one additional USB port on the back. The console also needs to be lighter and thinner.
In this version, the PlayStation 5 will be sold separately or in a kit with mechanics, but it can also be bought separately, so if something happens to it, then replacing it is not a problem. It is assumed that the new model will completely replace all previous revisions of the PS5 and thus become the new standard for this family of consoles.
In any case, it should be similar to the original console. According to Henderson’s sources, the portable drive can be plugged into the console without it even looking like an external drive.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing a new PlayStation 5 in the coming months. An Insider article says the console shouldn’t hit the market until around September 2024.
