BIOTA Swarm is a retro sci-fi novel about vampire survivors.

We had a lot of fun killing hordes of lo-fi enemies in Vampire Survivors, so it was only a matter of time before something like BIOTA Swarm could kickstart the fledgling roguelike auto-survival shooter genre. BIOTA Swarm changes the perspective of Vampire Survivors to a platformer-style side view, but retains the upgradable weapons that blast through endless hordes of enemies that fill the screen with mutating pixels.

BIOTA Swarm is a kind of sequel to the 8-bit platform game BIOTA released earlier this year. You’re still battling the threat of an alien scourge on a sprawling mining colony, but this time all of your weapons fire automatically and it’s up to you to find and select upgrades that allow you to battle your way through each stage. .

Scheduled to release in early 2023, BIOTA Swarm will feature randomized campaign maps set in six different hostile environments. You will have four unlocked characters that can equip dozens of different abilities and bonuses.

The game was featured at Realms Deep, the 3D Realms Digital Game Festival. You can follow the action on Twitch or visit Steam to see the games and demos being featured at the event.
