According to the press release, the free game, developed by metaverse development studio MELON in conjunction with the Computer History Museum, aims to teach students, educators, and their families about the history of computing and the technology in an interactive environment.
In TechQuest, players will discover unique ways to solve problems with technology. The experience contains two distinct themes: environmental protection and automation, which consist of several unique virtual worlds. Roblox players can explore each world and complete challenges to earn rewards like virtual items and pets. The exciting game worlds are suitable for the whole family and for all ages.
Areas dedicated to automation include a park, a playground, a candy factory, a school, and a house. In these worlds, players can learn to 3D print at schools and create accessible play areas. Conservation Areas allow Robloxians to explore the ocean, rainforest, and savannah. Players can then complete tasks like installing thermal sensors to identify animals and piloting bee drones to pollinate plants.
TechQuest also includes a display room with artifacts from the museum’s collection and images of milestones from the earliest days of computing to today’s modern developments.
“By exploring connections to the history of computing and the application of technology to real-world contexts, visitors will learn how technology can serve humanity,” said Dan’l Levin, president and CEO of the Computer History Museum, in a press release. The Roblox Experience helps advance the museum’s mission in Silicon Valley to explore the computer past, the digital present, and the impact these technologies will have on humanity in the future.
