The twenty-minute presentation of State of Play was mainly devoted to games from Japan. For example, the place went to the eighth Tekken or a new game from the Team Ninja studio.

Then, with a new preview, they were reminded of a couple of expected titles in the form of God of War Ragnarok and Hogwarts Legacy. There were also upcoming PS VR2 games, a Yakuza remake, or a Pacific Drive survival game.

Tekken 8

The event began with the official presentation of the new Tekken series. The eighth part will be released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X / S, the date has not yet been specified. More information can be found in a separate news item.

Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge – Expanded Edition

Subsequently, space was made available for a couple of games for the upcoming PlayStation VR 2 headset. The first game featured was the Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s End – Enhanced Edition event.

This is a new version of the game, which until now was only available on the Oculus Quest headset. The PS VR2 version will be released next year.

Demeo

The second virtual reality game introduced is a mix of board game and role-playing game called Demeo. The PS VR2 version will also be complemented by the classic PlayStation version. The release date has also been set for 2023. The game is already available on PC.

Like a dragon: Ishin!

Sega also attended the event to unveil a new addition to the Yakuza series. Specifically, the game is called Like a Dragon: Ishin!, which is a remake of the 2014 game Yakuza: Ishin (known as Ryū ga Gotoku Ishin! in the original Japanese).

The developers promise a full-fledged remake of the original game using Unreal Engine 4. The release is scheduled for February next year. The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Hogwarts legacy

The predominance of games from Asia at the conference was partly offset by, for example, a new demo from RPG Hogwarts Legacy. The trailer is dedicated to exclusive content that will be available to players on PS4 and PS5.

The game releases February 10 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. You can get more detailed information in a separate news.

Pacific Drive

An interesting example is the atmospheric game Pacific Drive from the independent studio Ironwood. This is a post-apocalyptic survival with horror elements, in which your car will play a key role. This will serve as a means of transportation and at the same time a shelter.

To pass the game, the car will need to be repaired and gradually improved. An important part of the game will also be the environment, which must change frequently, as a result of which no path in a dangerous radioactive zone full of anomalies will be the same. Pacific Drive will be released in 2023 on PC and PlayStation 5.

PlayStation stars

Sony also recalled the recently introduced PlayStation Stars loyalty program, which allows you to receive special digital items and other bonuses for points scored. The program will operate in Asia from September. Players in America and Europe will see it in a few weeks after that.

Synduality

In addition, three Asian titles appeared on the show in a row. The first to be announced was a multiplayer sci-fi action game called Synduality. The game from Bandai Namco will bring third-person PvPvE battles in which you will compete against both live players and computer-controlled opponents.

Synduality will release during 2023. Of the platforms, only the PlayStation 5 has been confirmed so far.

Starblade (Project EVE)

Another popular title was the Korean post-apocalyptic action Stellar Blade from Shift Up. The title was previously known under the working title Project Eve. We now have the real name revealed and a sample of the gameplay itself.

Prim will primarily be distinguished by action, dynamic gameplay and a complex combat system. Stellar Blade will release in 2023 on PC and PlayStation 5.

Ronin uprising

The Asian game series ended with the recently introduced Team Ninja game, which is famous for the two-part Nioh series or the Dead or Alive brand, for example. The news is called Rise of the Rōnin and seems very ambitious.

The genre is an action RPG set in the open world of 1863 feudal Japan. The game is due out on PlayStation 5 and possibly PC in 2024.

God of War Ragnarok

The event concluded with a new story trailer for God of War Ragnarok. In addition to the new trailer, Sony has also unveiled a dedicated DualSense controller in the colors of the game. More information can be found in a separate news item.
