NBA 2K23 Steam Reviewers Criticize Next-Gen Port of PC Version

NBA 2K23 Steam Reviews criticize the PC game as players express their frustration that the PC version of the game is not a port of the current version, but rather next-gen versions of the sports game.

The port of the previous generation of NBA 2K23 means that it is missing some important modes and features, along with some minor changes that show the capabilities of current consoles. Since its release on September 8, the basketball game has received mixed reviews on Steam, with many players unhappy with how 2K ported the next-gen version of the game.

According to the NBA 2K23 FAQ page, the development team will “continue to investigate” to bring a more modern version of the franchise to PC, adding that the current focus is on optimizing the Xbox, Series X/X versions of the game. S and PS5, instead of the PC port.

The biggest missing feature, as current Steam reviews for NBA 2K23 point out, is MyNBA Era, which allows you to select a specific famous era in basketball history. MyNBA’s previous feature is now called “Modern Era”, while “Magic vs Bird Era” and “Jordan Era” are only available in the current generation versions of NBA 2K23.

A number of other features have also been toned down for the PC version of NBA 2K23, including lower graphical fidelity, no icon system, and lower frame rates, which according to some reviews on Steam stutter the game trying to push it to 60 frames. . per second.

The next-gen versions of NBA 2K23 are currently $59.99, the current-gen versions are $69.99, and the PC port on Steam is cheaper at $59.99.

“The fact that PC gamers aren’t into next-gen gaming is, frankly, complete disrespect. PC gamers have been using “next-gen” consoles for years, but with each release, console gamers get more than PC users. It’s literally spit in the face,” says one of the reviews on Steam.

“Playing at 60+ fps results in glitchy MyCareer matches where the sim fails until next-gen,” said another, “and you’re forced to watch the game in literal slow motion. The slow motion continues even when you’re in the game.”

The PC version of Madden NFL 23 was only for the last generation, and FIFA did the same for EA.
