Some American players were in for a nasty surprise when they bought copies of the game. The Last of Us Episode 1: Firefly Edition purchased directly from the official PlayStation store for $99.99. the package really was damaged, as well as the packaging inside the game. Unfortunately, it seems that Sony does not want to make substitutions.

The Firefly Edition includes several bonus content over the standard edition with a metal case and a new cover such as The Last of Us: American Dreams comics #1 – #4. Unfortunately, Sony’s shipping department appears to use envelopes with no shock protection for packages in some cases, making them vulnerable to damage.

There are numerous reports of the incident on Twitter, so it is not an isolated case.

According to @Porshapwr, PlayStation Direct customer service did not offer him the option to replace damaged items. The only compensation is a 20% off coupon on future purchases. The problem is that all copies of Firefly Edition are sold out, so there are no copies to replace.

The solution for now is to keep the corrupted copies. Also, considering the prices of launches, it is not recommended to go to the second-hand market.
