Queues for WoW Wrath of the Lich King Classic have increased as players are already clogging up the servers of the beloved retro MMORPG. While the full game will be released later this month, the previous patch and accompanying Scourge Invasion have already proven too popular for Blizzard.
Wrath of the Lich King Classic will finally hit digital stores later this month. Veteran WoW players have been waiting for this moment for years, as WotLK is one of the most beloved expansions of all time, if not the most beloved.
Ahead of its full release, Blizzard released a preview update for the expansion on August 31, allowing players to pre-dive into content including leveling up, the upcoming Scourge Invasion event, and the new Death Knight class. .
Also, with each new Warcraft expansion comes a massive influx of players new and old ready to sit back in their gaming chairs and work all night. However, it seems that with Wrath of the Lich King, an unprecedented number of players are returning to WoW Classic.
Tons of posts on the WoW Classic subreddit page have focused on the absurdly long queues currently clogging up almost every available server. A user noticed crazy timeout with a trade offer meme that read “Blizzard gets $15, you don’t get the game.”
For other users they posted their turn that stretch to over 6,500 players, resulting in queue times exceeding the 100-minute mark. With Wrath of the Lich King Classic players so eager to return to Northrend, there’s a huge queue problem that doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon.
Another WoW fan criticized the WoW community for pushing mega servers instead of multiple servers with a decent number of people. They said, “Call it my compassion, call it you reap what you sow.” It wasn’t Blizzard that killed my server (Ashbringer), it was the greed of the community.”
