If you’re a fan of CS:GO or just esports in general, chances are you’ve known pro gamer turned Twitch streamer Tarik ‘tarik’ Celik for a long time. The Turkish-American Counter-Strike prodigy has dominated the competitive FPS gaming scene for years, playing for multiple clubs including Cloud9, Evil Geniuses, and OpTic Gaming.
Çelik turned his huge CS:GO following into a huge Twitch following as a streamer, where he now has over 2 million followers. Tarik left Counter-Strike in early 2022 to pursue streaming full-time, now partnering with one of the biggest esports clubs in the world.
On August 30, Sentinels released a video announcement stating that Tariq would be joining them as a content creator. on video, Tariq scales the Empire State Building in his hometown of New York to deliver the monumental news. He jokingly points out that his original plan was to replace Sentinels star player Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, but he decided to join simply as a content creator.
The announcement was made just a day before Valorant Champions 2022, which will take place in Turkey with Tarik representing the team. Tariq noted that he will create tons of Valorant content for the organization and that he thinks they would be a good match because they are “very memes that resonate with my brand a lot.”
While this is great news for the streaming community and Valorant, this could be Sentinels’ second biggest acquisition this year. In July 2022, the club revealed that they had signed Michael “Shraud” Grzesek to join their Valorant roster, shocking both fans of the team and Valorant esports fans around the world. It’s clear that Sentinels is determined to have both the best Val roster and the strongest roster of content creators.
