After a recent flop in Apex Legends Season 14, the team at Respawn Entertainment released a short teaser video hinting at the next character to appear in the Battle Royale game in August. The video includes two characters talking about a distress call that appears to indicate the location of a wanted prisoner.
Advance published in Apex Legends Twitter Account and also on their official Discord channel, it’s titled “Distress Broadcast Incoming…” and shows a computer screen emitting intermittent sound waves as the two characters talk in relay.
The first voice, identified by the code name “IJV5301”, opens communication with the space authorities, informing them that they have received a distress message, which they will be happy to send at the appropriate price. The voice on the other end of the line interrupts them, demanding that they “pass the signal or they will be fined.”
The transmission in question is transmitted by radio waves: “The GDS Vantage distress beacon operated at the fixed coordinates. Sole Survivor: Prisoner T-0323…” At this point, the officer cuts the tape, says “We’ll get it from here” and disconnects from the call. The first speaker pondered with a frustrated sigh, “Prisoner T-0323, huh? I hate being them…”
Although the teaser is pretty vague, most fans will jump on the word “Vantage”, the name of the character who should become the new multiplayer legend of season 14. We already have a visual preview of the Vantage, which appeared briefly in the game. client, but now he is driving the theories.
Some fans commented that the second voice in the teaser sounded like Mirage actor Roger Craig Smith. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the character in the video, Mirage, has quite a different way of speaking, and Respawn has been known to hire lead voice cast members from him for minor supporting roles in the past.

It’s still unclear if the first voice we hear is Vantage’s voice, though if the distress call is coming from a new subtitle, then “hate being them” would mean we’re hearing someone else’s. However, Vantage should have tracking abilities that match the bounty hunter’s character style, which would also fit with the name “Hunted”, which seems to be the name of the next season of Apex Legends.
