Dome Keeper tower defense roguelike release date announced

If you tried out the Terraria and Tower Defense indie Dome Keeper demo at Steam Next Fest earlier this year, we’ve got good news: the release date has been announced. Dome Keeper launches on September 27, which means you’ll be able to dive back down to the alien surface in less than a month.

Dome Keeper combines the mining and underground exploration of Terraria with light tower defense and roguelike elements. On the surface of a hostile alien world, you have a protective dome that keeps you and your habitat alive and thriving. You can’t get out, so the only way to find more than you need is to dig.

However, you need to make sure you can get back to your dome quickly, as it will periodically be attacked by creepy alien creatures who seem to object to humans appearing on their planet and digging underground tunnel systems. Using the resources you find underground, you can research new technologies and basic defenses to keep aliens at bay.

The loop is a lot like Kingdom: New Lands, where you have to maintain a growing base in a 2D playground – it’s always about balancing your time between exploring further and keeping your defenses at home.

Dome Keeper, which you can list on Steam right now, is looking to add a few elements of its own to the mix that we can all get in on when it launches in September.
