The Genshin Impact Pizza Hut event was canceled because it was too popular

The Genshin Impact and Pizza Hut event became too popular on its own, as a huge crowd of RPG fans flooded a restaurant in China. This overcrowding forced the police to intervene and personally close the event to ensure everyone’s safety. It’s an unfortunate but not surprising result given the popularity of Genshin Impact.

Redditor Fabuloso81 uploaded images of Pizza Hut in China showing what the store looked like before and after everything closed. In the first image, a large crowd is seen blocking the entrance to a store in a mall. The second photo shows a sign on the door and a policeman standing next to it. It’s just one store, but it can be assumed that it happens in other establishments, given the history of similar events in Genshin Impact.

HoYoverse held the same joint event with KFC in China last year, and it led to the exact same result: the in-person portion of the event was canceled due to the large number of fans in stores. Eventually, the collaboration reward became a digital-only download, which may happen again after this Pizza Hut situation.

Digital rewards for partnering with Pizza Hut include a special camera, a Serenitea Pot booth, several themed dishes, and lots of Mora. While that’s certainly a good thing, fans have likely been milling around Pizza Huts to physically obtain extremely limited Eula and Amber-style mugs, plates, and mouse pads.

Coincidentally, a new camera is available in-game right now for those who play the Colley event in Genshin Impact version 3.0. It is available to all players who have reached at least Quest Rank 20, and the “quick start” feature allows anyone to start it, regardless of their progress in the Archon questline. If you’re having trouble with a new quest, our contemplation answer guide should help.
