In honor of the 10th anniversary of the popular MMO game, Guild Wars 2 mount skins are heavily discounted, and by high price we mean free. This was announced by developer ArenaNet. Twitter and said that for the next three weeks, that is, until the week of September 19, you can go into the game and choose any Guild Wars 2 mount skin released before the End of Dragons DLC in February 2022.
Kind of. There has been some confusion about which skins are actually available. The tweet says that you can get your license to pick a special Black Lion mount from the in-game gem store, and then pick the skin you want. The skins featured in the promotional video do not appear to be for sale, despite being labeled free in the video.
Guild Wars 2 players have been asking for clarification on Twitter, some more politely than others, and the account manager says they’re reviewing the skins that are actually on offer. There are still plenty of skins on sale, with several dozen mount skins available in-game, but you may want to wait to redeem a free one until ArenaNet checks availability.
So far, there’s no indication of which skins might be available or when changes might be made. It also appears that you won’t be able to redeem again if you’ve already picked your skin, and after the confusion, there’s another one you’ve decided you want more of. However, you have a full three weeks to redeem, so take your time and it doesn’t hurt to hold back for now.
While you wait, check out some of our picks for the best free games on PC, because free is always good. There’s also no shortage of dragon games to choose from if you prefer your experience to be a little skewed on the scaly and monstrous side.
