The previous year was not easy for Czech studios, as Madfinger Games from Brno can say, for example. However, he was not the only one who had a hard time. Amanita Design wasn’t entirely rosy either. While they managed to get decent numbers, compared to previous years, they managed to get almost 22.2 million less sales than, for example, in 2020, when the company earned a good 106 million.
Most of the income comes from licensing fees and, above all, from game sales. Amanita Design receives a minimum amount from the sale of merchandise related to its games. However, according to the timeline, Apple and its subscription gaming service Arcade, which offered both Creaks and Pilgrims, no doubt pulled out a thorn in the studio’s heels. Considering Phonopolis and another title yet to be revealed, it is likely that they will rise again in the coming years. We keep our fingers crossed for them, because their work is really beautiful.
