Since the beginning of this year, it has been said that the live-service Assassin’s Creed Infinity game is quite far away, and Ubisoft is preparing another smaller game to fill the gap between Valhalla and Infinity itself. Noted journalist Jason Schreier claimed that the game was supposed to be called Rift, but now it looks like we’ve learned its real subtitle.
This time, YouTuber j0nathan took care of the new information, and a user with the nickname Rebs Gaming subsequently posted a summary of what he heard in a video on Twitter. On its own, this would mean little, but shortly thereafter, the aforementioned Jason Schreier responded to a report that some of the information was correct and some was not.
According to j0nathan, the setting is correct, i.e. Baghdad, between 860 and 870, and the main character is assumed to be Basim, who had already appeared in Valhalla. This will be a return to the origins of the series and, compared to recent works, some RPG elements should be missing. According to the YouTuber, the game is scheduled for release in the spring of 2023. We all knew that, but Schreier confirmed another brand new thing – the title. This is supposed to be Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

The YouTuber gave a few other details, but Schreier denies some, namely the ability to explore more cities. The video also revealed that Ubisoft is secretly working on a remake of the first installment. Even Schreier doesn’t know if this is true. Either way, the news looks a little suspicious as the remake is said to be included in the Mirage Season Pass, which is said to include the Constantinople DLC as well. Schreier notes that the game as such (Mirage/Rift) was originally only intended as an expansion for Valhalla, so he didn’t expect DLC for such a small game.
We should soon find out how this will actually play out. The Ubisoft Forward event will take place on September 10, but the French company is planning a separate livestream dedicated only to Assassin’s Creed for September, where we should learn something about the future of this series. However, we don’t have an exact date yet.
