Warzone Rebirth Island is the mainstay of Battle Royale gameplay, giving those who don’t like Calderra the chance to play a smaller but more intense battle with their friends. However, with the latest update, Raven Software has made some changes to the lighting on the island, which has caused serious concerns among gamers.
sunsets. They are almost universally loved by people, directly mimicking that part of our brain that experiences the joy and wondrous contemplation of existence. That is, probably unless you’re a Call of Duty Warzone player and you don’t get struck by lightning out of nowhere because you can’t see.
Spawn Island’s reassignment creates soft lighting and a sun low in the sky: atmospheric, sure, but perhaps not ideal for fast-paced, intense combat. The general consensus in the discussion on Reddit is that the changes look nice but end up degrading the game, with one user bluntly saying “I hate it, poor visibility to spot enemies.”
The idea that looking east causes retinal burns is not, in my opinion, a total disaster, but rather a unique tactical issue that needs to be addressed. If everyone has the same visibility problem, why not take advantage of it and approach from the direction of the sun, camouflage your approach and finish off the enemy before they realize you’re there? Take inspiration from this player’s book: “I look for the atmosphere of sunset. Just me, margarita, and about 210 rounds of AR to get you through the day.
This update seems to be the last of the changes to BR before the sequel releases in a few months, so I think the sun is setting on Warzone, at least for now.
