Callisto Protocol Gamescom Trailer Has Us In Its Tentacles

The Callisto Protocol Gamescom trailer focused on combat and showcased some of the things that Striking Distance and horror game creator Glen Schofield teased during E3, namely the gravity gun. There are many bloody mutations and death scenes in the game (after all, it is “Strike Range”) and tentacled mutants who want to hurt you.

The trailer begins with the protagonist gingerly walking down a hallway and into a more open area with a giant rotating cylinder of metal spikes in the middle of it – you know, your usual decor centerpiece – before being attacked by a monstrous enemy. Here is a little secret. To the left of him is an enemy who hasn’t seen him yet, so instead of alerting him with a strong fight, he just fires his gravity gun and knocks the first monster into the spinning teeth of death.

The Gravity Gun seems to be an integral part of combat in Callisto Protocol, allowing you to control the flow of combat by keeping enemies at bay and needing all the help you can get.

While Giant Meat Grinders naturally deal serious damage to opponents you’re up against, regular dismemberment, headshots, and other combat strategies tend to be less effective. A massive mutant shown has been decapitated and continues to fight.

You will also have to watch your opponents for sudden changes. Schofield said some enemies can grow tentacles, and that’s your cue to act fast. If you don’t take them out quickly, they will mutate and become even stronger.

The trailer ended with a typical Callisto scene. After surviving an encounter with mutants, the protagonist is fanned out and cut in half in painful detail inspired by real-life horror.

You won’t have to wait long to see it all with your own eyes, either. Callisto Protocol is published on December 2. In the meantime, check out some of our picks for the best space games and zombie games to get you through this time.
