“One of the projects of the AAA group was transferred to another studio within the group”, Embracer said in a press release last week. “This was done to make sure that the quality bar for this game is where we want it to be. We do not expect any significant delays with this transition.”

Embracer didn’t directly mention KOTOR, but many people at the time believed it was indeed a remake, which according to an earlier Bloomberg report, should have been put on hold until they could decide what to do with it. The decision to move to Saber should have been made very recently.

The server previously pointed to release by Brad Prince and Jason Minor, who worked at Aspyr as a design manager and art director. Apparently, the pair were fired shortly after the completion of the Aspyr demo that Lucasfilm and Sony showed.

Aspyr worked on a remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for three years. Jason Schreier of Bloomberg adds that Disney, Sony and Embracer have high hopes for the project. and they hope it will be as successful as the original game.

The title was supposed to be announced last September for PlayStation 5 and PC, and was reportedly set to be considered for release by the end of 2022. Now this seems unlikely. According to the source, the completion of the work will take some time. at least two years.
