Genshin Impact’s new character was officially unveiled today by developer miHoYo, just ahead of the upcoming 3.1 release. Candace, Guardian of Aru Village, is the next addition to the great cast of Genshin Impact characters and brings with her a connection to the MMORPG’s newest gacha region, Sumeru.
Seeking inspiration from Egyptian lore, Candice was reportedly a four-star hydrojavelin character, a rumor that gained weight with today’s reveal from the developer. Developer Genshin Impact gave us some information in a tweet, but even that was enough to inflame the player base. The solid points of interest were:
- Candace
- golden wish
- Aru Village Guardian
- hydroelectricity
- Sagittarius Scutum
In addition to Candace, we also received more information about two other characters coming to Genshin with update 3.1. First of all, we have a five-star electric polearm fan called Cino. We also have a character named Nilou, the owner of a hydro-honed sword, who was first hinted at in Sumeru’s teaser video.
The three new Genshin Impact characters introduced in 3.1 and the new Sumeru region introduced in 3.0 “A Morning That Brings a Thousand Roses” should see the next few months filled with new content for players to dig into. Update 3.0 will be released on August 24 in Europe and will be available for pre-installation the night before.
