How League of Legends Champions Become Chibi TFT

League of Legends champions are redesigned to be tiny versions of themselves in the popular TFT MOBA car battle, with their big heads and small bodies. But how does Riot choose which characters to become chibi? We asked them during the TFT Set 7.5 preview.

While some players battle Summoner’s Rift for glory, others prefer to exercise their brains in Teamfight Tactics, the ever-popular League of Legends auto-battler game.

However, if you’re anything like me, the best part of TFT is the fact that it’s easy so beautiful. With plenty of cute little legends and tactics at your disposal to help you take down your enemies in style, the game’s charming cartoonish aesthetic balances out its difficulty.

During the panel discussion for TFT Set 7.5, where Riot introduced new chibi tactician Lee Sin, I asked Riot how they choose which league champions become chibi tacticians in TFT.

Version 7.5 still revolves around the Dragonlands, so a better champion to become a chibi than the person who channeled the spirit of the dragon: Lee Sin.

“I think one of the most important questions is [the champion] linked to the theme of the set,” explains Christine Lai, Content Distribution Manager. “We were inspired by the units in the set, and we were inspired by the theme itself.”

She further comments that “player data and understanding of player preferences” is also a factor the developers are considering, so it looks like we’ll never see chibi Yumi.

TFT Set 7.5 continues the Dragonlands story by adding many new dragons (including Swain) to the battlefield, as well as new features like Darkflight and Lagoon.
