STALKER 2 developer GSC Game World has teamed up with a Ukrainian supermarket chain to open its own store dedicated to the upcoming game in Kyiv. It has everything you’d expect from a regular store, but with an apocalyptic twist, at least on the packaging. The store opened just a day after the game’s developer announced a partnership with a popular supermarket chain, much to the delight of Ukrainian gamers and embarrassment for almost everyone.
In the STALKER supermarket you will find sections dedicated to the sale of traditional Ukrainian products, a grocery section and the most interesting counter (at least for me) called “Vlasna Confectionery” in the back, where food is sold. Currently. Pizza, coffee and sweets are offered, and I can think of no better fuel to fight the monsters of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.
STALKER 2 was supposed to be released this year, but due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the long-awaited title had to be delayed until 2023 and many developers moved to the Czech Republic. I only say “lots of developers” because some have chosen to stay behind to support their country, as detailed here in one of the craziest dev diaries I’ve ever seen – worth three minutes of your time.
There are plans to expand the STALKER theme even further inside the supermarket, once the conflict subsides you can expect to be greeted with life-size recreations of mutants and more decrepit decorations inside the building. Also, more food, always more food.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl will be released for PC and Xbox in 2023, an exact date has not been set yet. You can watch the latest trailer for STALKER 2 here to prepare yourself for the horrors that come with massive fallout, including, unfortunately for us, cats. You might want to check out the STALKER 2 system requirements while you’re at it, no one wants to get stuck in the dangerous wilderness.
