Apex Legends players are turning to mob justice to solve their battle royale matchmaking issues. The launch of Apex Legends Season 14 has proven to be very successful so far, with the new update taking the game to a new Steam record for concurrent players. However, recently, many gamers have expressed their dissatisfaction with the ranked matchmaking system for the FPS game.
One of the most popular posts on the Apex Legends subreddit at the time of this writing is the latest in a series of rants from lower-ranked players saying they’re tired of dealing with Masters and Apex Predator players. that appear in your lobby. Another popular post urged developer Respawn to “stop worrying about matchmaking times,” arguing that players would rather queue a little longer than end up in matches with players of vastly different skill levels. .
Now it appears that the community has taken matters into its own hands. The viral clip shows a large group of rival players apparently teaming up with their enemies to take down a Predator rank player in their lobby. Inqo, the player in question, who goes by datemike97 on Reddit, posted a short video of them going down at the start of the round, only to realize that a large number of players were chasing them.
Because Inqo uses a unique dive track awarded to players who reach Predator rank, other players may recognize him as a particularly dangerous threat to their success. After landing, the group appears to be completely focused on destroying Inko, either finding equipment or fighting other rival squads. At one point, Inko tries to blend in with the group, hoping the players will confuse them and start chasing one of the other harassing players, to no avail. Eventually, the group corners Inko in a hut and finishes them off, with several rival squads taunting the fallen body together to celebrate.
To his credit, Inqo appears to be taking the entire incident in stride. They can be heard laughing throughout the clip, exclaiming, “It’s half the server…everyone’s after me…this game is scary…I’m so dead!” In response to a comment, they say, “I used to get so pissed off, but now I find it funny how far people will go to kill me.” Inqo says that these kinds of mishaps are common, noting that they once competed in the ALGS Pro Tournament and also reached the rank of Predator in Arena and Battle Royale modes.
