According to a recent rumor, Cult of the Lamb not available on Game Pass as long as Sony he has mercenary to ensure that it does not happen.
Update at 21:26: A spokesperson for Devolver Digital, publisher of Lamb’s Lamb, contacted The Gamer’s editorial team and said the rumors started by Kinda Funny were “absolutely false”.
The original news is as follows
The information was recently shared by Gary of Kinda Funny. digital audio file you can see it below (minute 32:23). The video reads: “Someone told me some of the reasons why. [Cult of the Lamb] It’s not on Game Pass, it’s Sony paying them not to put it on Game Pass.”
“To encourage you not to make any subscriptions to the competitor platform. Because they know it’s on Game Pass… [i giocatori non lo compreranno su PlayStation]”.
The source was not specified, but it’s certainly not a speculation as to the host of Kinda Funny. Whether this alleged deal between Sony and the Cult of the Lamb authors prevents the game from being included in Game Pass forever, for a few months or a year or more, isn’t even mentioned.
For now, that’s all we know about it. For now, we repeat that this is just a rumor and no confirmation. It might also seem odd that Sony would accept a game like Cult of the Lamb: While it’s a quality video game (as noted in our review), it doesn’t seem like the kind of game that should be barred from being added. To Game Pass.. Still, it would make sense if Sony were making deals like this with lots of small games to ensure that many standalone and mid-budget products don’t fall under Microsoft’s service.
Sony’s use of this type of strategy isn’t new either: Microsoft accused Sony of paying Sony to prevent games from coming to Xbox Game Pass.
